We stand on their shoulders

As this year starts coming to a close we come together with our friends and family to celebrate the many holidays that occur at the end of the year. Fond memories and some not so fond memories are created during these gatherings. Traditions are created and repeated during this time.

We reflect on times gone by. Those who have transitioned are remembered. Their special dishes, what they said or how they made you feel. Every time their name is mentioned it keeps their essence alive.

Our ancestors have established practices that support our survival in spiritual and physical ways. Healing with the energy from herbs has been used for thousands of years. These practices have been passed down from generation to generation. It is only recently that science has stated that these practices of healing are valid methods. Our ancestors knew these tried and true methods long before the scientific validation authenticated it.

We are comprised of both spiritual and physical DNA that is passed down by those that have transitioned before us. There is an ancient Kemetic belief that at the time that the first drop of your mother’s blood pulses thru your veins you are connected to the ancestors. On the other hand, your first breath of air connects you with every other individuals presently in the world today and everyone to come in the future. You are the bridge between those who have come before us and those who come after us. We have a responsibility to keep what is already discovered and practiced viable, strengthen it and pass it on to the next generation.

Have you established a spiritual support group at your store? Do you have gatherings that aid your customers’ spiritual growth? Why not schedule activities that support this type of networking.

Have an Altar Building class at one of these meetings. This class should include instruction and discussion about the processes and uses of altars that honor our ancestors.

At your next New Moon gathering, why not introduce a way of honoring our ancestors in our present day lives. Talk about how the ancestors can support us as we manifest our visions. Our spiritual ancestors are always ready to assist us in all of our endeavors.
